Carcase Competition

NATIONAL BEEF CARCASE COMPETITION

The AMPC National Beef Carcase Competition, supported by MLA Meat Standards Australia, is the nation’s top beef carcase competition.

Beef producers from around Australia have a unique opportunity to benchmark their product on a national level by entering Beef Australia’s 2027 National Beef Carcase Competition – with participating processors in every state. It also provides producers with feedback on their carcases including compliance of beef carcases to market specifications, lean meat yield, and predicted eating quality of those carcases (MSA index).

The appraisal system utilised in the competition is specifically designed to meet both export and domestic market requirements and uses the latest technology available to the beef industry.

Entrants will have the chance to be awarded Beef Australia’s 2027 AMPC National Beef Carcase Competition Champion Carcase, with trophies and cash prizes awarded to the first, second and third pens and ribbons to sixth place, across eight classes.

Trophies and cash prizes are awarded to the top entries in each class, and a MSA Index Award awarded to the winning individual carcase with the highest MSA Index Score. An Achievement Award is awarded to the overall Champion Carcase and Reserve Champion Carcase. An MSA Index Award is also awarded to the winning pen of three carcases with the highest combined MSA Index scores, and a Champion Pen and Reserve Champion Pen is awarded to the Highest Scoring Pen of three in Classes 1-8.
