Connecting School’s with Australia’s beef industry
The Meat & Livestock Australia School’s Program will once again take place at Beef2027, welcoming schools from across Australia to participate in a range of events and programs tailored for primary students, secondary students, and teachers. The Program, developed by Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia (PIEFA), will offer students the opportunity to engage with the Australian beef industry through a series of curriculum-aligned, hands-on, and engaging educational sessions.
Through the Meat & Livestock Australia School’s Program, educators will team with industry experts to deliver age-appropriate activities, demonstrations, and discussions through sessions that are designed to provide authentic industry connections while helping students develop a deeper understanding of the people, practices, and technologies shaping the future of the Australian beef industry. Students will investigate topics including:
- beef production
- nutrition
- sustainability
- cattle breeds and genetics
- technology and innovations
- animal welfare
- careers, and
- the science that underpins modern agriculture.
In addition to the structured learning program, students and teachers will have access to a suite of curriculum-linked resources and self-guided engagement opportunities throughout the event.
Students are encouraged to explore the wider Beef2027 expo site and participate in a guided scavenger-hunt-style activity. This self-guided experience will challenge students to locate different beef breeds, identify examples of agricultural technology, engage with exhibitors by asking questions, and observe key features of the event. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on breed identification activities and enter a competition to estimate the weight of a live animal.
Together, these experiences provide an exciting and authentic way for students to connect their learning to real-world agricultural industries while experiencing all that Beef Australia has to offer.
