Sir John Key headlines Beef Australia’s Cattle Australia Breakfast Symposium

Beef Australia, the nationally award-winning beef industry event, will welcome Sir John Key as the keynote speaker for its highly anticipated Cattle Australia Breakfast Symposium.

The Symposium, themed On Being Influential, will feature an extraordinary lineup of distinguished speakers and is set to take place on Monday, 6th May 2024, from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm as part of Beef2024.

Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin said the Cattle Australia Breakfast Symposium will explore the theme of influence in the beef industry, showcasing thought-provoking discussions, insights, and strategies to shape the future of this dynamic sector.

“It’s fantastic to have such renowned leaders from around the globe and from various fields converge in Rockhampton to share their wealth of knowledge and experiences at this popular event”, Mr Irwin said.

“The program’s keynote speaker is none other than the Right Honourable Sir John Key, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, bringing unparalleled insights into the world of politics, leadership, and global influence.

“Sir John’s distinguished career and unique perspectives promise an enlightening start to the Symposium.

“Joining Sir John are several other distinguished speakers, each contributing a unique perspective on influence, including:

  • Ralph Schoellhammer: Internationally acclaimed economist and industry expert, Mr. Schoellhammer will delve into the economic and political forces shaping the global beef market.
  • Alison Van Eenennaam: A leading authority in animal genomics, Dr. Eenennaam will explore the role of technology and innovation in influencing the future of beef production.
  • Sue Middleton: An esteemed figure in sustainable agriculture, Ms. Middleton will share insights into environmentally responsible practices and their impact on the industry’s influence.
  • Rowan McMonnies: As the Managing Director of Australian Eggs, Mr McMonnies will share the story of how the egg industry has navigated dynamic consumer, community, and regulatory pressures towards calmer waters and what the beef industry might have to learn from this.

Queensland Minister for Agricultural Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner said the calibre of the keynote speakers underscored the international significance of Beef2024.

“Ranging from global politics and economics to sustainable agriculture and the learnings producers can take from the egg industry, this is a top shelf line-up”, Mr Furner said.

“These are important conversations and will help shape the future of our beef industry”.

Cattle Australia (CA) Chief Executive Officer Dr Chris Parker said they are proud partners of the Cattle Australia Breakfast Symposium.
