Number increase for Beef Australia’s Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship

Beef Australia is thrilled to announce nominations in the highly anticipated Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship are up 11% on 2021 numbers, marking a return to pre-COVID levels.

The renowned Championship, which remains at the heart of Beef Australia, has attracted a broad cross section of breeds from around Australia.

Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin said the Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship is recognised by the seed stock sector as our nation’s premier stud cattle competition, and the number of nominations received this year backs that up.

“Beef Australia exists for the advancement of the Australian beef community, and the Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship is at the heart of what we do”, Mr Irwin said.

“In 2021, the Championship saw 1,700 stud cattle championship entrants across all adult and junior competitions.

“I’m excited to announce that at the time of nominations closing, at midnight last night, we’ve received an incredible 2024 nominations, representing 29 breeds.

“This figure doesn’t include additional cattle yet to be entered into the junior competitions.

“I’d like to thank the Australian seed stock industry for their continued support for the Championship.

“The return of international visitors and coverage on Beef TV will make the 2024 Championship the most viewed in the history of the event.

“This fantastic response is a testament to the dedication and passion of the Australia’s cattle breeding community, and a recognition of the work put in by our Stud Cattle Championship Committee”.

Stud Cattle Championship Committee Chair James Kent said the Committee couldn’t be prouder of the response to nominations this year.

“We’re excited to showcase the exceptional quality and diversity of Australia’s stud cattle at this year’s Championship, not only to the rest of the nation, but to the world”, Mr Kent said.

“The Championship will feature a diverse range of breeds, each vying for top honours across the various classes.

“The Committee would like to extend its gratitude to Nutrien Ag Solutions for their continued support as the naming rights partner of the Stud Cattle Championship, as well as to all participants, judges and volunteers whose contributions have made this competition possible”.

Nominations for the Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship closed at midnight, Monday 19th February 2024.

Substitutions, withdrawals and late entries close at 5.00pm Friday 15th March 2024.

Junior Led Steer nominations close Friday 15th March 2024.

All other junior events nominations close Monday 29th April 2024.
