March CEO’s Roundup

Published 27 March 2024

Our daily countdown calendar now has a three at the front with 38 days until the gates open on Beef2024, so things are getting really exciting here at the Beef Australia office. In fact, some our operations and event staff move out to the Showgrounds next week and commence the huge task of building the infrastructure required for the largest Beef Expo in the Southern Hemisphere.

We start with ground preparation and surveying, and then you will see the massive cattle housing structures and our double storey building in centre ring start to appear. If you want to know about road closures, please have a look on our website which has all dates and other useful information for locals and visitors.

Another thing for people to remember is that parking at the Rockhampton State High School will be pre-paid only this event – no tickets will be available at the gate. We are selling tickets on behalf of the School P&C, so go to our ticketing pages and grab what you need. When they sell out, we are encouraging everybody to use our free Park and Ride service as the easiest way to get to and from the event.

If you haven’t purchased tickets to any of the social events and the symposium, ticket sales will close on April 12. This is to enable our Celebrity Chefs and catering staff to plan menus so that the dining experience you have at Beef2024 is second to none. Tickets for property tours and city tours will remain on sale until April 19; and seminars are available right up until the doors close on the day. Many events are already sold out and others are selling quickly, so please have a look online and book as I would hate to see you miss out.

And finally, our Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship nominations have closed with 39 competitors exhibiting over 1,770 cattle in a test of saleyard appeal. Held at CQLX on Monday May 6, the cattle are judged on how well they present to buyers are then sold through the sale ring. This free event is open to the public, so if you have never seen an auction, this is a great opportunity to have a look at one in action with some of the best cattle in Central Queensland.

See you at Beef2024.

Cheers,

Simon Irwin
