From the CEO
I hope our first newsletter for 2026 finds you one of the lucky ones who are refreshed after the Christmas break.
Unfortunately, for some it has been a story of absolute extremes with those who have lost livestock and infrastructure to floods in the North and fires in the South.
We increasingly see the drought and flooding rains of Dorothea Mackeller’s poem “My Country” presented concurrently rather than one following the other.
Our thoughts go to all those who have been affected.
Progress towards the Beef 2027 event continues apace with the AMPC National Beef Carcase Competition now underway.
This competition gives beef producers from around Australia the opportunity to compete and benchmark their product against the nation’s best.
Covering everything from domestic to export market requirements; pasture-fed to unrestricted grain fed; and with processors participating from every state in Australia, the competition is designed to promote excellence in lean meat yield and eating quality.
Together with the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championships and the Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship, the AMPC Carcase Competitions provides producers the opportunity to compete with seed stock excellence, saleyards appeal and on the hook.

This month we welcome our new Event Manager Danielle Hempseed to the team, who brings lengthy experience in the planning, styling and management of events. She brings a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver a fantastic program of events and knows how to make things look great too.
Just a reminder that applications for the Beef 2027 Trade Fair close on Wednesday February 4. If you haven’t already got your application in, the Prospectus and Application Forms are available under Trade Fair on the website.
Applications will open in February for the Graeme Acton Beef Connections Program. This is a unique leadership development program, connecting experienced mentors with young mentees entering the agriculture sector. More information will become available soon, including the 2026/2027 Prospectus and how to apply.
Next month current financial members will be sent the information for renewals for Beef 2027. Keep an eye on your inbox for those details to attend Beef 27 official launches in May.

Welcome Danielle Hempseed
Danielle Hempseed (pictured left) joins Beef Australia as the newly appointed Event Manager, bringing 20 years of experience in large scale project management, event planning, design and delivery.
Danielle grew up on a cattle property south of Beaudesert and has also been involved in aspects of the Beef Expo since 2018.
She will now draw on her expertise to help shape the Beef 2027 program and deliver an exceptional event for industry, exhibitors and visitors.
