Charolais Champions announced at Beef2024

Moongool Tanner may have only just scraped into the senior bull class but he’s showed age is no barrier, taking out grand champion Charolais male at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Stud Cattle Championship at Beef2024.

Judge, Peter Collins from Merridale Angus, said the bull from Mongool Charolais, Yuleba, was still only a baby but had a lot of muscle.

“He’s structurally very sound with a big sirey head, great hindquarter and just a brilliant top on him and because of that top and hindquarter he is my grand champion,” Mr Collins said.

Clearview Raine, from Clearview Charolais, Mount Walker, took the senior title on her way to becoming grand champion but Mr Collins had high praise for the trio of class champions.

“The thing that pleases me today is how similar they all are,” he said.

“Functional females have that smoothness of shoulder, and then they’ve got that A shape. They’re beautiful through the front end but they’re wide through the back end. They’ve got great udder setups, good on their feet and legs.

“We are so pleased that we have animals of this calibre to be judged.”
