Beef Australia is calling for final nominations into their prestigious Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship.

Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin said they have had a positive response to the competition, with numerous nominations already received.

“Every three years, commercial cattlemen and women from across Australia have the chance to put their cattle to the test and be named the best in the country, at Beef Australia’s premier triennial event,” Mr Irwin said.

“Given the challenging seasonal and market conditions producers faced in 2023, the competition is on track to present a solid line up of both grain and grass finished cattle to showcase to the public.

“I encourage anyone who has not entered to nominate before the 15th of March, so you don’t miss out on what is gearing up to be a true competition between Australia’s best commercial cattle producers.”

Queensland Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner backed Queensland beef to punch above its weight in the competition.

”We are going to see the best beef in Australia on show at Beef 2024 and I know Queensland cattle producers are going to be front and centre when it comes to the prestigious places on the podium,” Mr Furner said.

“It is a tribute to Queensland’s cattle industry that it produces the goods year in, year out and takes its rightful place in the global beef market while supporting tens of thousands of good jobs for Queenslanders.”

Beef Australia Commercial Cattle Championship Committee Chair Angus Creedon said the Championship is a chance for producers to receive comprehensive feedback from knowledgeable judges.

“Beef Australia has selected judges that have knowledge on current market specifications, relevant to market drivers and modern production parameters, for the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship,” Mr Creedon said.

“All cattle entered into the Championship will then be offered for sale at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Championship Sale, which will be held on Monday, 6th May at the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange (CQLX).”

“The Championship then ends with the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Awards Dinner where producers, breeders, and industry stakeholders can come together and celebrate the achievements and innovations within Australia’s cattle industry.

“It’s a Championship not to be missed, and I encourage any commercial producer to nominate.”

Nutrien Ag Solutions NE Region Livestock Activity Lead Colby Ede said Beef Australia’s Commercial Cattle Championship is a tremendous opportunity to receive valuable feedback.

“As proud sponsors of the Beef Australia Commercial Cattle Championship, Nutrien Ag Solutions is excited to invite all commercial cattle producers to enter this prestigious competition showcasing Australia’s finest cattle,” Mr Ede said.

“With nominations closing on March 15th, we encourage anyone considering entering to submit their nominations soon.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to receive valuable feedback from industry experts on your cattle operation and gain national exposure at Beef Australia 2024’s high-profile industry event.”

The Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship will take place on Sunday, 5th May, with the Sale of Champions taking place on Monday, 6th May at CQLX.

The Championship concludes at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship Awards Dinner on Monday 6th May, onsite at Beef2024.
