CSIRO

Published 26 April 2024

As Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO is one of the largest and most diverse scientific research organisations in the world. Our research focuses on the biggest challenges facing the nation such as helping improve farm sustainability, productivity and the quality of meat and wool into the future.

We’re world leaders in understanding the genomes and genetic improvement of cattle and sheep. We also develop new technologies to improve the efficiency of livestock production systems through enhanced measurement, monitoring and management of animals and their environment.

We’ve developed many practical tools such as vaccines, diagnostic tests, treatments and mineral supplements for the health and welfare of Australia’s livestock.
