Unlocking Artificial Intelligence to improve production and biosecurity
Presented by Queensland Government

Department of Agriculture and Fisheries are working with Infarm to develop an automated camera system for use in detecting cattle and monitoring their condition using advances in machine vision and artificial intelligence. Its first job is to identify cows and calves, trying to provide more information to producers to combat low fertility rates in extensive beef herds. The system will be developed into remote surveillance nodes that can look for things like animal injuries and lameness, emergency animal disease symptoms of Lumpy Skin Disease and Foot and Mouth, and other issues affecting production such as bottle teat and buffalo fly. Connectivity for the nodes is provided by strategic access points running on solar panels and batteries and a mobile connectivity trailer that can be moved around the property to provide a flexible solution for connectivity anywhere on the property.

Speakers:
Paul Stewart – Principal AgTech Scientist, DAF
Jerome Leray – Founder and Managing Director of InFarm
Ross Marchant – Head of Engineering at InFarm
