Samantha Heathwood will be returning to Beef Australia 2018 as the expo MC and Presenter. Heathwood will be covering everything from Property tours and People’s Day, to the Spectacular Gala Beef Ball. Heathwood is excited to return to the Beef Capital and her 2nd Beef Australia Expo.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be involved, and to see Rockhampton come alive with the crowds, the sights, the sounds and of course the tastes of Beef Australia is so exciting,” Heathwood said.
Heathwood has been a part of the regional Australian media landscape for more than a decade. After studying Journalism at UQ in Brisbane, Heathwood got her first job in Rockhampton in 2005, where she started as a news reporter for WIN Television, before becoming the newsreader for Central Queensland.
During her time in the Beef Capital, Heathwood was named the 2006 Rockhampton Show Personality, and was the Rockhampton finalist in the Spirit of Queensland Awards in 2007. In 2010, Heathwood moved to Toowoomba, to present the news for three bulletins for the network, before moving to Sydney in 2012 with her young family, to work for Channel 9. Two years later, Heathwood moved back home to Queensland, taking time off to raise her two young boys, before returning to work as a reporter at 9 News in Brisbane.
In 2015, Heathwood was proud to be the Beef Australia MC and presenter from around the grounds and around the region, hosting a series of promotional videos and events. In the past three years, Heathwood has been a reporter and presenter for the 9 News Queensland team, and is now Channel 9’s Regional Queensland newsreader, presenting Nine News Central Queensland every weeknight at 6pm.
