Leading Australian owned agribusiness, Ruralco Holdings Limited, will auction a portrait of country music star and Ruralco Ambassador, Lee Kernaghan, at the Ruralco/CRT sponsored Australian Beef Cattle Championships dinner at Beef Australia 2012 in Rockhampton on Monday, 7 May.
The portrait, commissioned by Ruralco, was painted by respected artist, Greg Hawes, and all proceeds from the auction will go to Autism Awareness Australia to support their work assisting families dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Hawes’ portrait of Lee Kernaghan was submitted for consideration in this year’s Archibald Prize portrait competition and Ruralco is confident that a good price will be achieved at the auction.
“Greg Hawes is an outstanding artist and Ruralco is thrilled to have his involvement with this project. Greg shares Lee’s and Ruralco’s commitment to supporting rural communities and the work being done by Autism Awareness Australia,” said John Maher, Managing Director, Ruralco.
“Lee Kernaghan has been Ruralco’s Ambassador for OSKA Professional, our home brand range of farm and garden tools and equipment, since 2009. A percentage of the sale of every OSKA Professional product goes to the nominated charities of those Ruralco businesses who sell the range.
"Corporately, Ruralco also donates funds raised through OSKA to Autism Awareness Australia and Lee has been a great supporter of this and other activities for Autism Awareness Australia,” said Mr Maher.
Hawes having witnessed the work that Ruralco and Lee have done over the years promoting and supporting Autism Awareness Australia’s work across Australia wanted to contribute to this incredibly worthwhile cause.
“It was a privilege to paint Lee’s portrait and I’m very pleased with the painting. I feel it captures Lee’s personality and easy going nature and I hope that those who view this work will also appreciate it. I hope that a good price is achieved on the night to assist Autism Awareness Australia with the vital work they do,” said Hawes.
