Apart from the opportunity to present to and network with the best in the beef business, once short-listed, the top eight successful applicants will receive pitching practice hosted by KPMG ahead of the event to polish their pitch before the big day.
The top three finalists – judged by a panel of experts on the day – were in the running for some unique incentives including:
First place: Cash prize of $5,000 plus an exclusive half-day session titled ‘Growing your business’ with KPMG partner Hamish Doley. This session will focus on investor readiness, business strategy, and attracting growth capital. Mr Doley supports companies from start-up to large groups turning over more than $250 million per annum with a strong focus on agriculture.
Second place: Cash prize of $2,000 plus tailored social media and digital content coaching with a leading Digital and Media Agency.
Third Place: Cash prize of $1,000 plus media and PR opportunities.

Judges and MC
Mark Sowerby MC
Mark is the founder of Blue Sky Alternative Investments Limited, the ASX listed (ASX: BLA) alternative asset manager investing across private equity, venture capital, private real estate, water, infrastructure, hedge funds and agriculture. 10 years after starting Blue Sky, Mark handed the business over to the team to spend more time with his wife Heidi and his two sons, Lachlan and Patrick, and to help with projects that have a positive social impact. Mark has received a number of awards including the University of Queensland Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Excellence Award and Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Queensland (listed).
Glen Richards, veterinary physician, entrepreneur and investor who is also a Shark on Shark Tank. Glen is the founding Managing Director of Greencross and was a co-founder and Director of Mammoth Pet Holdings Pty Ltd (Petbarn) before it merged with Greencross. Growing up on a grazing property near Richmond NW Qld is where Glen’s love and passion for animals began. His parents owned a number of properties and farmed sheep and cattle. Glen continues to help foster early stage businesses including his Shark Tank investments through active mentoring, investing and strategic planning sessions

Markus has more than 13 years experience investing in a variety of asset classes including Agriculture, Technology, Commercial and Residential Real Estate and Equity Markets. He is the CEO of the BridgeLane Group, a diversified Alternative Asset and Real Estate investment firm, which he founded in 2009.

Managing Director, Super Butcher, Susan is Managing Director of Super Butcher, a retail group of 6 stores and online butchers, serving 10,000 people a week in south east Queensland. Susan has over 20 years of experience in accountancy and business management, and most recently was Chief of Staff to the Minister for Natural Resources and Mines in the Queensland Government. Susan brings a wealth of expertise to Super Butcher, which is a truly “paddock to plate” retailer.
