By Blair Angus, Chairman Beef Australia 2015
It may seem like an obvious thing to say in my role, but I can’t wait for Monday May 4.
Aside from being the first day of Beef Australia 2015, it is also the date of the Beef Australia Industry Symposium and I must say that the beef industry has never witnessed a better line up of speakers all in one place.
The symposium, supported by CQUniversity, will feature five international speakers whose organisations have a major influence on the landscape in which we as cattle producers operate.
Among them is Jeff Simmons, the Global President of Elanco, who will speak from Indianapolis on our industry’s social licence to operate.
Jeff is fresh off a world tour promoting his “Feed the Nine” report discussing the massive increase in global demand for protein and the need to focus on solutions in the areas of product innovation, consumer choice and trade access.
Also among our heavy hitters is Gary Johnson, the Senior Director Strategic Sourcing / Sustainability for McDonald’s Corporations worldwide supply chain.
McDonald’s is clearly an extremely influential organisation for the global beef market, but more importantly Gary is a highly respected figure, sitting on the US Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C. He will be speaking about how the beef industry can “close the gap between taste and trust”.
And having listened to renowned Demographer and KPMG partner, Bernard Salt at the G20 Summit, I am really delighted that he will be providing at the Symposium his entertaining and insightful outlook on the next 20 years of consumer behaviour. Bernard’s uniquely described PUMCIN’s and NETTEL’s will open your eyes as to what really drives our income.
While this is just a snapshot, a full list of our exceptional line up of speakers is available at www.beefaustralia.com.au. As you’ll see, this is an extraordinary opportunity to access the thoughts and insights of our industry’s world leaders – don’t miss the chance!
